Description
The Civil and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Illinois, Chicago seeks an outstanding candidate for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2017. Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering, and basic mechanics, such as statics, strength of materials, structural analysis, and design courses in steel, concrete, timber, masonry, capstone-level engineering design courses, and advanced topics related to structural analysis and design, and infrastructure management. Other responsibilities include holding office hours, student academic advising, supervising undergraduate design and research projects, and participating in course and program assessment.
A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience and an earned PhD in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required for this position. The position also requires P.E. registration or registration within one year from the time of employment. Successful candidates will have familiarity with course evaluation necessary for ABET accreditation and preferably teaching experience in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering curriculum. This position is non-tenure-track.
