DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will assume the responsibility of project inspector for a single, less intricate highway or bridge project. This project may involve tasks such as pavement restoration or replacement, minor base repair, intersections, single-span structures, or serving as a phase supervisor on more complex projects, all under the guidance of a higher-level project engineer. Your duties will include overseeing subordinate staff in the inspection, documentation, and approval of materials, workmanship, and adherence to contract requirements, standards, and specifications. It is important to recognize that every individual plays a part in the district's commitment to demonstrating environmentally sound practices. As an employee, you will be expected to contribute to the achievement of the maintenance unit's business plan objectives in relation to the Strategic Environmental Management Program (SEMP). Additionally, you will actively support the endeavors of your colleagues in meeting these objectives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Travel and overtime may be required according to operational needs.
This position will report to various projects sites within Adams County, however limited travel to District 8-0 at 2140 Herr Street in Harrisburg may be required.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
