Roles and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a
Principal Piping Materials Engineer
within our Global Engineering team located in Houston TX or Allentown PA. This position
This position reports to the Regional Mechanical Systems Engineering Manager and is primarily responsible for developing safe, fit-for-purpose piping materials specifications and related project deliverables according to project schedule and budget.
Required Skills / Abilities:
? Self-execute multiple concurrent piping material engineering projects under general supervision
? Analyze schedules and budgets to set your own priorities
? Proactively collaborate with internal AP teams to meet project commitments, budgets, and schedules
? Prepare project work using internal standards, industry practices, and personal experience to ensure a safe design
? Check and approve project work
? Develop and apply piping material classes based on product and project requirements.
? Specify insulation, paint, protective coatings on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Line Lists
? Select and specify manual valves and piping specialty items
? Prepare pressure test diagrams and specifications
? Create and maintain internal specifications, work instructions, and job aids
? Other duties as assigned
Education and Licensing Requirements:
? BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
? Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)
? Understanding of basic piping engineering concepts
? Strong written and spoken English communication skills, particularly regarding technical terminology related to piping
? Minimum 10 years' experience in industrial piping engineering
? Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
? Demonstrated strong technical skills in the specification of piping systems and manual valves
? Preferred - Experience with Hexagon / Intergraph SmartPlant tools (P&ID, Materials, Reference Data, and/or 3D)
? Preferred - Experience in hydrogen, syngas, and ammonia piping systems
? Preferred - Familiarity with global engineering organizations with respect to functions and interactions between different disciplines and support groups
Professional Certifications
? Preferred - Professional Engineering License
? Preferred - Project Management Professional Certification
