Lead Engineer: $93,100 - $124,100 - $155,100
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
? With minimal supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of transmission operations planning functions.
? Regular duties include:
? build and maintain the internal and external Evergy Evergy Energy Management System (EMS) Network Models as transmission system changes are implemented in the field, and as required to support the EMS Network Applications using OSI Monarch EMS state estimator and Siemens PSS/E software,
? monitor the quality of the EMS Network Application solutions and implement corrective actions required to return the solutions within expected ranges to ensure a high level of reliability,
? work with internal and external entities to request information to update or correct the EMS SCADA database to ensure the necessary real-time measurements are being brought into and used in the Evergy EMS as well as sent out to entities that have a reliability related need for it,
? provide updated model information to SPP’s EMS modeling group required to maintain the accuracy of the SPP EMS Network Applications,
? work closely with the Evergy EMS vendor to correct Network Application issues, and implement system setting changes and update software as directed by the vendor,
? The candidate will also be required to follow all existing safety rules and procedures.
Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
? The ideal candidate will have proficient knowledge of transmission planning and power systems.
? Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
? Prefer EMS state estimator and power system simulation software (OSI Monarch and PSS/E is preferred) experience.
? Must be capable of learning to use transmission operations planning software applications used by Evergy.
? Successful candidate must be able to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using good judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
? Prefer a working knowledge of the technical environment and all governing regulations, including NERC and SPP Criteria.
? Requires the ability to work on a team responsible for projects from the planning through completion phases.
? Must have demonstrated good organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others.
? Must have excellent teamwork and people skills.
? Must have initiative and be a self-starter.
Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing:
Must have a valid driver’s license. EITs or PEs are preferred, but not required.
Working Conditions:
Normal working office environment with occasional field visits to support coordination activities. The primary work location is Kansas City or Topeka, with occasional travel between the two. The candidate must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
