We are seeking a Plant Engineer within our Ops Midwest HyCO team located at our Delaware City, DE plant. This position requires minimal travel.


The Plant Engineer will have broad engineering responsibilities supporting the site and is directly responsible for projects associated with plant reliability, spare parts, Life Extension capital and TAR planning/execution. This role requires an understanding of all aspects of site responsibilities (safety, plant operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and customer communications) with a specific focus on communication, time management, project management and execution. This position reports to Del City’s Area Manager and will work closely with the Del City Site Supervisor.


The facility consists of a Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) hydrogen plant with associated auxiliary equipment and syngas purification system. The site produces hydrogen, which is used internal to the Delaware City, DE PBF refinery.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Commitment to safety, including Basic Safety Process (BSP) compliance, process safety management, and implementation of EHS policies.

  • Drive safety improvements including process safety retrofits, OPHR and PSM audit findings.

  • Drive operational excellence and reliability improvements projects.

  • Collaborate with the local team and other engineering disciplines to troubleshoot/resolve operational issues and improve plant efficiency.

  • Develop and manage life extension capital projects.

  • Drive spare parts enhancement project.

  • Support biennial TAR planning/execution activities.

  • Lead management-of-change development, implementation, and timely closure.

  • Promote and support customer relations through effective communication.

  • Support reliability activities and lead root cause analysis for the broader Midwest HyCO community.


Candidates will be evaluated on the following:
  • Demonstrated success in Safety, Environmental, and Employee Involvement.

  • Self-starter with proven leadership and experience in engineering-based roles.

  • A track record in driving continuous improvement through analytical reviews of complex systems.

  • Plant operating experience in similar plants or operations of similar complexity.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work with and communicate to a broad audience of varying technical levels.

  • Experience balancing competing priorities to ensure time-sensitive projects are completed punctually.

  • Flexible with work hours during unplanned plant upsets or planned maintenance outages.


Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 2 to 5 years' experience with process plant operation, maintenance, and/or engineering is preferred.
