Job Description

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
•        Implement environmental management systems and maintain documentation to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations
•        Provide awareness, track progress, and drive results against sustainability goals to promote plant safety
•        Train managers and employees in work site safety and environmental practices
•        Manages all aspects of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability development programs
•        Data collection and leadership or environmental permitting storm water planning
•        Ensures submittal of all required OSHA compliance documentation & OSHA compliance standards throughout the facility
•        Conduct environmental engineering studies and preparing environmental impact reports
•        Guides and directs plant towards compliance of State, Federal, and local safety, and environmental regulations
•        Directs environmental compliance and performance functions in accordance with regulations and corporate company policies
•        Ensures timely submittal of all regulatory documents policies
•        Lead improvement activities of the plant’s safety, health, and environmental performance
•        Communicating environmental projects and/or program status and results to operational leadership
•        Keep up to date on current policies and regulations
•        Backup Chemical Tech when necessary
•        Storm water management and planning
•        Maintain SDS database
•        Maintain and Oversee DOT & FMCSA compliance for commercial fleet

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•        Minimum of 10 years of experience administering Environmental Health and Safety programs in a manufacturing environment
•        Good communication skills
•        Knowledge of Michigan and Federal Environmental Regulations (air, water, soil, waste)
•        Knowledge of audit inspection procedures
•        Experience in MS Office Suite
•        Ability to become RCRA Certified upon hire
•        Ability to cross over all shifts to conduct training, investigations, etc.
•        Ability to pass all internal IIS training (crane, forklift, lockout tagout)

OPTIONAL/PREFERRED SKILLS:
•        Good understanding of the automotive industry
•        Ability to work off shifts as needed

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
•        Bachelor’s degree in a science or Environmental Engineering preferred
•        High School Diploma with equivalent years of experience/learned professional

While performing the job the position is highly exposed to moving vehicles/machinery and factory equipment. The position may be required to work overtime to meet deadlines and requirements.
