Summary
Virnig Manufacturing is seeking a full-time In-House Design Engineer. This position will be part of the Product Engineering Team; working on product development and engineering support of all departments. Duties will include a variety of design activities including designing new attachments and updating designs of current attachments by creating models and drawings used for production. These designs will be required to meet strict safety, strength and cost targets. The Design Engineer may also perform FEA analysis of attachment designs. Much of this work will be done utilizing 3D CAD software. Strong communication and interaction skills are needed. Organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary to ensure work is done correctly and on time.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Utilize 3D CAD to design skid steer loader and excavator attachments.
• Update/create models and drawings used for production.
• Create views and specifications for product literature and marketing materials.
• Perform FEA analysis of product designs.
• Create and update product manuals.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations, and good manufacturing practices.
• Be cooperative, positive, and respectful with management, leads, coworkers and team.

• Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
• Troubleshooting — Determining root causes of failures and finding solutions.
• Operations Analysis — Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.
• Systems Analysis — Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
• Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Requirements:
• 4 Year Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
• 2-5 years Engineering experience preferred, will give preference to machine design, electro-mechanical and hydraulic experience.
• Experience working with 3D CAD modeling software.
• Experience with FEA Simulation and PLM Software preferred.
• Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office.
• Ability to follow directions; work with minimal supervision and complete projects in a timely manner.
• Be observant of issues that arise. Willingness to ask questions to resolve issues, increase learning and work effectively.
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and issues (verbal and written) to coworkers and supervisors.
