Mainframe Storage Engineer

Job Description

**Position Description:**  

* Lead efforts in developing new strategies for operational efficiencies
* Work with applications teams and stakeholders as the platform technical lead
* Work with highly experienced and technical resources
* Assist technical leads in implementing systems and software updates
* Document processes, procedures and configurations
* Perform daily operations support functions, including problem isolation and resolution
* Provide status updates of task and project updates
* Provide system administration support
* Troubleshoot platform and application issues
* All other duties as assigned or directed

**Key Required Skills:**  
z/OS, Time Sharing Option, Data Domain, Dell EMC DLm8500 systems, ISPF, InsightIQ, technical writing and Ansible playbooks.  

### Requirements

**Basic Qualifications**

* Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of experience.
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
* 7 years of experience or more as a Mainframe Storage Engineer.
* 7 years of experience with problem monitoring and engineering problem resolutions on virtual tape architectures.
* 5 years of experience with Dell/EMC, VSM, VLE and ZFS Virtual tape Libraries.
* 5 years of experience with IBM Job Control Language (JCL).
* 4 years of experience with CA-1 Tape Management System (TMS) and CA Vantage.
* 4 years of experience supporting Disaster Recovery planning, testing, monitoring and restoration for virtual tape storage systems
* 3 years of experience designing and building Storage Management System (SMS).
* 2 years of experience using Data Domain Management Center (DDMC)
* 2 years of experience using Time Sharing Option (TSO) on mainframe systems
* 2 years of experience with Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF).
* Expertise in the Linux command-line environment

**Required Skills**  

* Knowledge of z/OS.
* Experience using Time Sharing Option (TSO).
* Experience with Data Domain.
* Experience with Dell EMC DLm8500 systems.
* Experience with ISPF.
* Experience with InsightIQ
* Ability to produce operational documentation using industry best practices in technical writing.
* Ability to gather process requirements to automate into Ansible playbooks

**Desired Skills**  

* Demonstrated experience growing, maintaining, problem monitoring and engineer problem resolutions on virtual tape architectures.
* Experience with Cyber Recovery on virtual tape systems
* Demonstrated experience designing, installing, configuring, provisioning, and deploying storage hardware used in a multi-node storage architecture.
* Experience developing best practice project plans, engineering scripts, and documentation needed to migrate workloads to virtual tape.
* Prior Federal government experience
* Self-starter, highly motivated individual who adapts and isn't afraid to volunteer in a dynamic work environment
* Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
