**SUMMARY**

Responsible for the general maintenance of a passenger vessel and assisting as a member of the vessel crew.

Qualifications

**NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**

* Knowledge of and ability to apply emergency and fire regulations, emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and systems applicable to vessel operation.
* Knowledge of proper vessel managing and docking.
* Basic knowledge of vessel maintenance.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
* Ability to work varied shift hours, including weekends and holidays.
* Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
* Ability to perform strenuous work on a passenger vessel.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** (education and experience)

* High school diploma or equivalent, **AND**
* One (1) to two (2) years of maritime industry experience including vessel maintenance, **AND**
* Current CPR and first aid certificates; **AND**
* A valid Driver's license with an acceptable driving record; **AND**
* Must successfully pass a background check and drug testing

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** (education and experience)

* Mechanical skills and understanding of marine maintenance practices are preferred.
* Previous experience on a passenger vessel.

Responsibilities

**ESEENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

* Works with Captain to ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with required phase maintenance schedules, and discrepancies are corrected as soon as possible;
* Assists contracted maintenance personnel in troubleshooting the nature/repair of major mechanical or other vessel problems.
* Maintains vessel appearance and cleanliness to the highest standards.
* Functions as one of the key crew members when instituting emergency procedures, following the emergency checklist and explaining any deviation from the latter; applies knowledge of and explains the first actions to take in the event of man overboard and vessel flooding.
* Assists with training crew members during periodic drills.
* Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
