Plumbing Design Engineer

Job Description

Leading multi-disciplinary team is looking for a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer for their Pittsburgh team!

Responsibilities:

* Lead plumbing design on a variety of projects (Healthcare/Labs, Industrial, Education, Institutional, and Commercial)
* Develop the following:

o Project scope

o Schedule

o Plumbing and fire protection budget/design approach

o Feasibility studies/project cost estimate

o Value engineering

o Code Review

o Project specifications

* Perform project management duties
* Coordinate project with architects, clients, and contractors
* Review show drawings  
* Prepare construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic through the construction document phases
* Perform/direct complex design of piping and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems for large scale buildings
* Specify plumbing/fire protection equipment
* Perform QAQC on projects
* Mentor/train junior staff

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
* 5+ years of Plumbing Design experience in Consulting Engineering
* CBD or CBDT required
* EI or PE License preferred
* Proficient in local/national building codes and design practices
* Extensive knowledge of the following:

o Plumbing Codes and Uniform Plumbing Codes

o NFPA 54; National Fuel Gas Code

o Relevant building codes, sustainability, green building rating systems, industry standards  

o LEED compliance documentation

o Plumbing design/calculation resources

o Revit and AutoCAD

* Understanding of and continued education of relevant trends/standard methodologies

Salary is commensurate with experience.
