Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly adaptable and resourceful Remote Interdisciplinary Engineer to join our growing Innovation and Technology team. In this unique role, you will apply a broad range of engineering principles and methodologies to address diverse challenges across our organization. You will work on projects that may span process improvement, technology integration, data analysis, system optimization, and the development of innovative solutions to support our clinical and operational goals. This is a fully remote position requiring a self-starter with excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, as well as the ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge across different domains.
Responsibilities:
Cross-Functional Problem Solving: Analyze complex problems that intersect various aspects of our healthcare operations, including clinical workflows, technology systems, data management, and administrative processes.
Solution Design and Implementation: Develop and implement innovative and practical solutions leveraging principles from different engineering disciplines (e.g., industrial, systems, biomedical, software) to improve efficiency, quality, and patient experience.
Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in existing processes and design and implement streamlined workflows using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement frameworks.
Technology Integration: Evaluate, integrate, and optimize various technologies and systems to enhance data flow, communication, and operational effectiveness across different departments.
Data Analysis and Interpretation: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to identify trends, measure the impact of implemented solutions, and support data-driven decision-making.
Project Management: Manage and execute projects from initiation to completion, including defining scope, developing timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders from different departments, including clinicians, administrators, IT professionals, and analysts, to understand their needs, gather requirements, and communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
Documentation and Training: Create clear and concise documentation for implemented solutions, processes, and systems, and provide training and support to end-users.
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, engineering methodologies, and best practices in healthcare to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
Ad-hoc Analysis and Support: Provide technical expertise and support for various ad-hoc requests and initiatives across the organization.
Qualifications:
Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Systems, Biomedical, Software, or a related interdisciplinary engineering field). Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in an engineering role, with demonstrated experience applying engineering principles to solve problems in complex environments. Experience in the healthcare industry is a significant plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues into manageable components.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., Excel, statistical software, database querying).
Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma). Certification is a plus.
Experience with project management principles and tools.
Understanding of systems thinking and the ability to analyze interactions between different components of a system.
Exposure to various technologies and software applications relevant to healthcare operations (e.g., EHR systems, data analytics platforms).
Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, R, SQL) are a plus.
Interdisciplinary Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to learn and apply knowledge from different engineering disciplines and adapt to diverse technical challenges.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a remote setting.
Self-Motivation and Initiative: Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a remote environment.
Adaptability and Learning Agility: Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies and concepts quickly.
