**EMPLOYER:** Lennox International Inc.
**JOB TITLE:** Mechanical Engineer
**LOCATION:** Carrollton, TX
**DUTIES:**
* Responsible for engineering duties associated with the development of HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) products; perform product design, engineering, and testing using thermodynamics and heat transfer theories, and relevant simulation tools and software;
* use simulation tools to predict system performance: heat exchanger coils, compressors and cooling system;
* prepare design specifications, analyses and recommendation by applying mechanical design and thermal system design techniques, tools, and principles;
* develop technical data for sales;
* work on applications for the agency approvals;
* technical responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating and conducting technical projects or phases of projects involving design and development;
* coordinate the efforts of drafters/designers, engineering technicians and machine shop personnel as required by assigned projects;
* participate and lead new product design and system optimization process;
* conduct design and sizing of system assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components;
* conduct independent technical investigations involving the originations or modification of material;
* propose technology concepts that lead to higher efficiencies, improved quality, reliability and manufacturability;
* use concept selection methods to shortlist technologies for design approach;
* develop and implement cost reduction opportunities in HVAC products;
* coordinate with sourcing team, suppliers, supply chain team and manufacturing to prepare project related material and paperwork for prototyping, pilots, PPAP and production release processes;
* conduct failure root cause analysis and investigation;
* coordinate with controls team to adjust and optimize control system code and algorithms for new products;
* create new product technical documentation, printed and electronic literature, drawings and bill of materials updates utilizing Engineering Change Notice process;
* organize project and task workloads;
* perform detailed analytical and design studies, develop basic design concepts and design criteria to achieve project objectives;
* oversee the implementation of enhancements for products;
* work with remote factories to validate and qualify changes in product design;
* work and collaborate with technical subject matter experts;
* coordinate activities of engineering team.
Qualifications

**REQUIREMENTS**:
* Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Thermal Science, or a related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or as a Mechanical Engineer, HVAC Design Engineer, Technical Specialist, or in a related/similar position responsible for producing precision technical plans, drawings, and 3D modeling using mechanical design techniques, tools, and models.
* In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, employer will accept a Master's or foreign equivalent degree in the fields stated above and 6 years of experience in the skill sets stated above.
* Experience therein to include 6 years with thermal science, heat transfer, HVAC systems, HVAC product design and manufacturing, HVAC\&R system modeling and simulation, mechanical product testing and qualification processes and procedures, writing and developing test procedures, compiling and evaluating design and test data and preparing technical specifications;
* 5 years with project management;
* 4 years working in a product development and manufacturing environment, collaboration with controls and electrical teams on the development of the product control system and electrical-mechanical components;
* 3 years with mechanical drafting and CAD software;
* and 2 years in data analysis and data management using Excel.
