Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Principal / Staff Software Engineer to lead critical architectural decisions and drive technical excellence across engineering teams. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on solving complex system challenges, designing scalable architectures, and mentoring engineers to build high-quality software systems. You will play a key role in shaping long-term technology strategy and ensuring engineering best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of large-scale, distributed systems and microservices.
Drive technical vision and influence engineering strategy across teams.
Solve complex technical challenges related to scalability, reliability, and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and infrastructure.
Establish and enforce best practices in system design, coding standards, and testing.
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and leadership.
Review and guide critical code changes and architectural decisions.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve system efficiency and developer productivity.
Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and system resilience.

Required Skills & Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend systems.
Deep expertise in system design, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
Strong programming experience in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++.
Proven ability to design and scale high-performance systems.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Strong understanding of databases, caching, and messaging systems.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Leadership & Influence
Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
Strong mentoring and coaching experience for engineering teams.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience driving cross-team initiatives and architectural alignment.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time systems.
Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
