Job Description

Requirements
- -----------

### Must have:

### - We require U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance. - We require a bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a closely related technical discipline, or equivalent experience delivering production software. - We require at least 2 years of experience writing production code that others have had to use, troubleshoot, or maintain. - We value prior exposure to TypeScript, React, and Python. - We prefer experience shipping technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders in complex, fast-moving environments. - We prefer background working with government, defense, or operational customers. - A Secret or Top Secret clearance would help you ramp quickly, though it is not mandatory. - We look for the ability to build a full-stack prototype in roughly 48 to 72 hours. - We value experience in small teams or early-stage startups where ownership and ambiguity are high. - We appreciate candidates who build side projects, open-source work, or other personal technical projects. - We expect you to be able to code independently without relying on an LLM for code you do not understand.

Responsibilities:
- ----------------

- We have our first Forward Deployed Engineer embed with key customers to learn their workflows, uncover gaps, and understand the mission behind the process. - We expect you to maintain regular customer contact through weekly engagement and biweekly onsite visits. - We need you to convert operational needs into practical technical specifications, constraints, and trade-offs. - We want you to evaluate feature requests, push back when necessary, and identify the underlying problem worth solving. - We rely on you to design, build, and deliver workflow prototypes from concept through deployment. - You will handle the full implementation stack, including authentication, data integration, and support for government-issued laptops and environments. - We expect you to judge when a prototype should be retired rather than turned into a product. - We want you to feed field learnings back to engineering in a form that directly informs product direction and next steps. - You will act as the main technical contact for customers and serve as a bridge between users and our product and engineering teams. - You will use your on-the-ground insights to help shape what we build next and why.

Company:

We build software for people making high-stakes decisions on behalf of the United States, with a focus on strengthening judgment rather than replacing it. Our team believes important strategic work should move beyond slide decks, spreadsheets, and intuition and instead be supported by better tools that help operators and action officers work faster and more effectively. This is a full-time, hybrid remote role based in Arlington, VA, with a salary range of $120,000 to $200,000 per year. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes 401(k) matching, medical, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited PTO, a health and wellness stipend, a company-wide break during the final two weeks of the year, supportive leave policies, and relocation assistance.
