Hydraulic Systems Engineer
A growing engineering organization is seeking a Hydraulic Systems Engineer with a strong technical background in designing, analyzing, and optimizing hydraulic systems for test and industrial equipment. This role includes circuit design, component selection, system testing, troubleshooting, and use of CAD tools.
Experience: 5+ years preferred
The successful candidate will contribute across multiple projects and possess a diverse engineering skill set.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development: Create hydraulic schematics and design circuits for machinery and test systems
Performance Optimization: Perform modeling, calculations, and simulations to optimize pressure, flow, and efficiency
Component Selection: Select, test, and validate pumps, valves, cylinders, and motors
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hydraulic system failures to minimize downtime
Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, and test reports
Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and production teams to integrate systems
Qualifications & Skills
Proven experience in hydraulic system design, particularly for industrial or high-pressure applications
Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, closed-loop systems, and proportional control
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
Experience with PLC programming or electro-hydraulic controls (preferred)
Software Tools
AutoCAD
SolidWorks (preferred)
General Skills
Strong organizational and communication skills
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving ability
Ability to work in multidisciplinary team environments
Mechanical and/or structural experience (preferred)
Experience estimating and quoting projects
Ability to provide onsite support
Familiarity with FMEA, design reviews, and code compliance
