The Role

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience;

Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice to Have

Experience supporting Navy/DoD programs, preferably Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, that includes interfacing with NAVSEA and its prime contractors, equipment suppliers, and shipyard trades and engineering
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with end-user support and troubleshooting
Experience working with suppliers on product development and improvement
Conceptual design knowledge of valve controllers
Ability to proactively identify and resolve technical design issues
Familiarity with IEEE standards
Experience with PLC programming and embedded systems software
Ability to read, analyze, and design electrical schematics and wiring charts
Experience with or using Variable Frequency Drives
