### - We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field; a masters degree is preferred. - We seek at least 8 years of progressive experience in software development, DevSecOps engineering, or cloud infrastructure development. - We require 3 or more years of hands-on experience designing, scaling, and supporting automated pipelines in a production federal cloud environment. - We need advanced experience scaling enterprise CI/CD pipelines with GitLab SaaS Gov runners in a Zero Trust architecture. - We require a strong background in DevSecOps and security automation, including unit testing, SAST/DAST, policy-as-code, and compliance scanning within delivery pipelines. - We need demonstrated expertise building clean, reusable, multi-account Terraform templates and secure-by-default infrastructure modules across cloud platforms. - We value familiarity with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards for reference implementations, deployment tools, and dashboards. - We require experience working in fast-paced Agile environments using capacity-based team models. - We seek proven success partnering with product managers and cross-functional teams to align infrastructure delivery with user needs, product backlogs, and operational priorities. - We require US citizenship or permanent residency and the ability to complete a US Government background check for Public Trust clearance. - We prefer candidates located in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area who can travel to Washington, D.C. as needed. - We require strong accountability, organization, communication, coaching, problem-solving, and mission-focused client service skills. - We require English proficiency and the ability to work on-site in Washington, DC as needed.

Responsibilities:

- We design, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using GitLab SaaS Gov runners to support fast, reliable deployment across the enterprise. - We develop and standardize Infrastructure-as-Code practices, workflow patterns, and reusable Terraform building blocks. - We embed automated security controls into delivery pipelines, including vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, policy validation, and stage gates aligned to federal standards such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA. - We lead the cloud observability strategy by building monitoring blueprints, dashboards, centralized logging, telemetry, alerting, and cost optimization capabilities. - We work directly with application teams, vendors, and system owners to provide self-service guidance, examples, and implementation playbooks that accelerate adoption. - We create and operationalize monitoring, logging, and observability integration patterns that bring legacy systems into unified enterprise views. - We participate in governance meetings and planning sessions to review platform updates, reduce risk, and maintain delivery momentum. - We mentor and advise developer teams on how to build on top of the core platform automation foundation. - We proactively identify and resolve technical and pipeline issues while maintaining a high standard of operational performance.

We are Covalent Solutions, LLC, supporting a federal clients foundational cloud initiative with a highly automated, secure-by-default platform engineering approach. This role is remote-eligible, though we strongly prefer candidates in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area who can travel to our clients Washington, D.C. offices for key meetings and collaborative sessions as needed. We offer a competitive salary range of $155,000 to $165,000 per year along with benefits that include 401(k), health, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off. This position is central to our DevSecOps and automation efforts, and it requires a mission-focused professional who can help us modernize delivery, improve observability, and strengthen platform reliability for federal stakeholders.
