Location: Washington DC / San Francisco / Los Angeles (Remote after initial onsite training in West Virginia)

We are hiring a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team developing next-generation safety-critical embedded systems.
This role offers end-to-end ownership of firmware development, close collaboration with hardware teams, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous and embedded technologies.
What You'll Do
Own firmware development from design through deployment
Develop drivers, communication interfaces, and state machines
Build host-testable firmware and simulation environments
Collaborate with hardware engineers on board bring-up and debugging
Support system qualification, validation, and testing
Develop programming, update, and deployment workflows
Contribute to safety, reliability, and firmware architecture decisions
Required Skills
5+ years of embedded firmware development experience
Strong C, C++, or Rust programming skills
Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers
Strong understanding of:
Interrupts
DMA
Timers & clocks
Memory maps
Linker scripts
Experience with:
SPI
I²C
UART
USB
Strong debugging and hardware troubleshooting skills
Experience building reliable, testable firmware for real-world hardware
Nice to Have
Rust embedded ecosystem experience
FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embassy, or RTIC
Bootloaders, OTA updates, or secure boot
UAV, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems experience
Safety-critical software development experience
Important
Initial 1-month onsite training in Kearneysville, WV is required.
Following training, candidates will work from Washington DC, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
