Basic Qualifications
Prior experience with missile or space mechanical component / subsystem design, assembly, integration, and test
Understanding of, and practical experience with Systems Integration and Engineering processes
Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Flight Sciences, Materials, Manufacturing, Test, etc.)
Skilled in Creo CAD modeling and CAD control with experience reading/interpreting mechanical detail design drawings
Understanding of Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning
Experience with mechanical analysis and analytic tools (Creo, CreoView, MathCAD, etc.)
Ability to obtain a DOD SECRET Security Clearance. Thus US Citizenship is required

Lockheed Martin is designing, developing, and delivering a next-gen wideband MILSATCOM system comprised of integrated space and ground segments that will provide enhanced communications capacity, flexibility and resiliency. This position will be a key member of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team in support of the final design, development, production, integration, test, and delivery of this critical capability focused on Mechanical Systems Integration.
In This Role You Will
Support the integration lead for different Mechanical subsystems
support the definition of mechanical system interfaces
Support the requirement decomposition and allocation process with the Requirements team
Support anomaly investigations
Support the definition, analysis, and recommendation of Trade Study options related to the mechanical systems
Perform data and document reviews and provide feedback for technical and program documentation
Support systems/hardware integration, test planning and execution and find opportunities for build flow and test efficiencies
This position is contingent on program award, expected in 3Q 2026.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical discipline, or a closely related field
3+ years' engineering experience
Demonstrated ability to work in self-directed manner, work independently, and leverage best practices
Proven understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very sophisticated problems and implement constructive change
Ability to communicate complex design information, technical decisions and issues to an audience with varied technical backgrounds
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong social skills, and ability to build solid relationships with team members
Ability to evaluate data from spacecraft subsystem providers (e.g. bus, payload) and demonstrate compatibility, assess requirements compliance, identify and resolve risks, and implement opportunities for improved solutions vs. system requirements
Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools
Active secret clearance
