Job Description

Job Summary
The Hydrology Engineer will be responsible for leading hydrological and hydraulic analyses for a wide range of infrastructure and water management projects. The role involves developing 1D and 2D hydraulic models, designing drainage systems, evaluating flood risks, and supporting the planning and design of dams, channels, ponds, culverts, bridges and dike systems. The candidate will also provide technical leadership, review modeling outputs, and ensure compliance with municipality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for infrastructure, flood protection, and water management projects.
Develop and calibrate 1D and 2D hydraulic models for wadis, drainage systems, and floodplains.
Perform flood risk assessments, stormwater management studies, and watershed analysis.
Design and assess dams, detention ponds, retention basins, channels, culverts, bridges and dike systems.
Evaluate flood mitigation strategies and drainage network performance.
Prepare technical reports, hydrological calculations, and design documentation.
Review and validate hydrologic inputs such as rainfall data, runoff coefficients, and watershed parameters.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including urban planners, survey, geotechnical, dry and wet utility engineers to mitigate flood control measures in a coordinated manner.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and best practices in water resources engineering.
Support project proposals, technical presentations, and team meetings.

Required Technical Skills
Strong experience in hydrology and hydraulic modeling.
Proficiency in 1D and 2D hydraulic simulation software, such as:
HEC-RAS (1D/2D hydraulic modeling)
HEC-HMS (stormwater management)
Watershed Modeling System (WMS)
Autodesk Civil 3D
ArcGIS / GIS-based hydrological analysis
HY-8
Culvert Master
InfoWorks ICM (Optional)
Experience in watershed modeling, rainfall-runoff modeling, and flood routing.
Familiarity with terrain processing and DEM analysis.
Experience with hydraulic structure design such as Dams, Ponds, Channels, Culverts, Bridges, Spillways, Weirs and Dikes.

Project Experience
The candidate should demonstrate experience in:
Floodplain modeling and flood hazard assessment.
Design and analysis of dams and reservoir systems.
Stormwater drainage networks taking into consideration urban flood management.
Channel design and stabilization.
Detention and retention pond design.
Dike and levee system evaluation.
Wadi flood mitigation and urban areas flood protection.

Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent technical report writing and documentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and coordination with stakeholders.
Leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Hydrology or Water Resources Engineering.
