About the Role
An innovative transformer manufacturing company is seeking a Senior Transformer Design Engineer to support the design and development of medium- and high-voltage transformer systems used in modern energy infrastructure.
This role combines mechanical and electrical engineering expertise to deliver high-performance transformer solutions supporting smart grids, renewable energy integration, and advanced energy systems. You’ll work closely with global engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams to design reliable, scalable, and production-ready products for industrial and utility applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical and electrical components for medium- and high-voltage transformers (up to 69kV / 20MVA)
Develop transformer layouts, winding configurations, insulation systems, and cooling solutions
Perform engineering calculations and simulations related to structural integrity, thermal performance, weight, and stress analysis
Optimize transformer designs for manufacturability, efficiency, reliability, and cost
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, testing, and international teams
Prepare technical specifications, engineering documentation, and customer-facing materials
Support product development aligned with international engineering and safety standards (IEEE, ASME, ISO, UL)
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and design automation efforts using CAD tools
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
5+ years of experience in transformer design, power systems, or electrical equipment engineering
Strong knowledge of transformer components, winding systems, insulation, cooling systems, and electromagnetics
Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
Understanding of thermal systems, structural mechanics, and fluid dynamics
Ability to work effectively across global engineering and manufacturing teams
Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills
Experience with SAP or engineering process automation is advantageous
