Overview
A Texas state agency is seeking a QA Engineer Automated 3 to design and implement automated testing solutions for complex software projects. The successful candidate will create scripts that run testing functions automatically, determine priorities for test scenarios, and develop execution plans. This role involves coordinating and performing work on highly complex programming projects, writing test plans and test data, and preparing detailed documentation for automated processes. All work products will be considered works made for hire and remain the property of the agency.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and/or perform work on programming projects including those that are highly complex in nature and/or large in scale
Design automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically
Determine priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios
Coordinate and/or write test plans and test data
Write complex software code and debug software
Analyze proposed applications for software regression suites
Analyze, review, and revise software to increase operating efficiency or to adapt new procedures
Prepare detailed analyses, plans, diagrams, and verification procedures for existing and proposed applications
Design documentation for automated processes
Perform moderately complex functional, application, and regression testing
Interpret requirement documents and update test documents accordingly
Prepare test environments
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience designing automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically
8+ years of experience prioritizing test scenarios and creating execution plans to implement these scenarios
8+ years of experience creating test plans, test cases, and preparing test environments
8+ years of experience performing moderately complex functional, application, and regression testing
8+ years of knowledge of the software development life cycle and software development methodologies
8+ years of experience interpreting requirement documents and updating test documents accordingly
8+ years of strong familiarity with analysis, planning and management reporting functions
8+ years of experience acquiring knowledge of the customer's business in assigned area
8+ years of strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
8+ years of experience working with customers as needed during test cycles
8+ years of excellent analytical, problem-solving, team playing, and oral and written communication skills
8+ years of proven ability to work successfully with technical and non-technical groups and manage multiple responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience with Texas DIR Project Delivery Framework and document templates
2+ years of familiarity with company's information architecture and information management methodologies
2+ years of familiarity with existing and planned software technology and the global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components
Work Location & Requirements
Primary work location is in Austin, Texas
Hybrid position with both on-site and telework options
Services provided during normal business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) unless otherwise coordinated
May be required to work outside normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays as requested
All travel, per diem, parking, and/or living expenses are at the candidate's and/or vendor's expense
Criminal background checks may be required as authorized by Texas law
