Software Quality Engineer - DO-178 / DO-254

Location: Fort Worth, Texas

We are hiring a Software Quality Engineer with strong aerospace or defense software quality assurance experience, including hands-on work with DO-178, DO-254, and related systems/software development standards. This role will support software process compliance, audits, documentation reviews, change-control activities, supplier audits, and engineering quality assurance for aerospace and defense programs.

Responsibilities:
- Interface with systems/software development teams, test and evaluation teams, and project managers
- Review and approve systems, software, and test equipment requirements, design, and test documentation for compliance
- Participate with engineering counterparts to ensure process and product compliance with contractual and company standards
- Participate in software change-control boards
- Evaluate software process auditor scope, technical requirements, program risks, and delivery milestones
- Support software quality audits, supplier audits, and program compliance activities
- Interpret schematic drawings, specifications, and contracts for review of systems/software processes
- Mentor and train junior employees
- Support customer interface activities and technical communication
- Travel moderately as required for program activities and software supplier audits

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience with DO-178 or DO-254 and proven Software Quality Assurance work
- 11+ years of directly related experience with aerospace or defense software processes
- Experience with standards such as RTCA DO-178C, RTCA 278A, DO-254, SAE ARP-4754, or MIL-STD-498
- Experience with software quality assurance, software process compliance, and audit techniques
- Knowledge of software development and software testing methods
- Experience with software requirements development
- Experience with software design or coding in C/C++, Ada, or other embedded languages
- Embedded software or hardware verification background
- Ability to interpret schematic drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong written, oral, listening, presentation, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work well in a team environment with strong customer interface and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Government customer project experience
- FAA project experience
- Experience supporting aerospace or defense supplier audits
- Experience mentoring or training junior team members
