### - We want someone with 10+ years of storage systems administration experience, with a strong emphasis on petabyte-scale on-premises data environments. - We need deep knowledge of storage architectures, including block, file, and object systems, plus a solid grasp of I/O paths. - We expect hands-on experience with performance benchmarking and observability tools such as FIO, ElBencho, blktrace, nvme-cli, nfs-gaze, and eBPF. - We look for practical experience with SSDs, NVMe, RAID, caching, or distributed storage platforms. - We highly value familiarity with enterprise flash arrays and distributed file systems, especially VAST Data and Pure Storage (Everpure). - We need proficiency in scripting with Python, Go, or bash to automate array administration and monitoring. - We want someone who can analyze complex performance data and communicate clear conclusions. - We require proven experience leading technical requirements authoring, evaluating RFP responses, and managing complex vendor relationships. - We look for experience designing systems for specific I/O workloads such as AI training and inference, along with a disciplined approach to testing and validating vendor releases. - We value a genuine interest in our mission to reduce the environmental impact of the AI revolution through sustainable infrastructure. - Bonus: experience with RDMA, iSCSI, NVME-oF, RoCEv2, or InfiniBand networking as it relates to high-performance storage. - Bonus: prior experience at a major Cloud Service Provider or a high-scale AI infrastructure company. - Bonus: familiarity with distributed storage systems such as Ceph, Lustre, or Gluster.

Responsibilities:

- We will rely on you to evaluate the performance of block, file, and object storage systems across a range of workloads. - We expect you to identify bottlenecks across hardware, firmware, operating system, and application layers. - We need you to design and run performance test plans, benchmarks, and stress tests. - You will tune storage stacks, including I/O schedulers, caching layers, drivers, and protocols, to meet target KPIs. - You will design and execute proof-of-concept exercises for new storage arrays. - You will validate new vendor software releases in staging before wider production rollout. - You will own the initial bring-up, configuration, and ongoing optimization of large enterprise arrays. - You will manage the lifecycle of the storage operating system to keep systems tuned for AI training and inference I/O patterns. - You will partner with Compute and Networking teams to build a seamless, gold-standard cloud infrastructure. - You will design cloud-scale storage systems that perform well in high-concurrency, high-throughput environments. - You will lead technical evaluations of new storage technologies. - You will author RFPs, review vendor responses, and guide down-selection decisions for storage investments. - You will serve as the main technical contact for storage partners and work with their engineering teams on bugs, feature gaps, and roadmap priorities. - You will collaborate closely with service engineering and architecture teams to influence design decisions. - You will provide performance guidance during feature development and release cycles. - You will share findings clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The compensation range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000 plus bonus.
