### Must have:

### - We require a bachelors degree in a related discipline with 9 years of relevant experience, or a masters degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD/Juris Doctorate with 4 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience. - We are seeking at least 6 years of hands-on experience in software development and software architecture. - We need strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python. - We require experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS). - We require experience working with Linux operating systems. - We value experience using Atlassian tools. - We need a solid command of version control practices and tools. - We require experience with virtualization and containerization technologies. - We expect strong debugging skills, especially for difficult-to-reproduce, full-system issues. - We require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance. - We need someone who can work effectively in a cross-functional team and manage multiple priorities. - Bonus qualifications include experience with autonomous systems, maritime technology, and maritime robotics. - Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity are needed to meet the demands of the Software Engineer job family.

Responsibilities:

- We design, develop, implement, and test autonomy software solutions for unmanned maritime products. - We create inventive approaches to solve complex autonomy challenges across our unmanned systems portfolio. - We own software deliverables for both product releases and customer commitments. - We document software requirements, design details, and implementation decisions. - We enhance existing capabilities and correct defects for our customers. - We communicate findings, technical issues, and proposed solutions clearly to internal teams and external customers. - We coordinate closely with systems, firmware, hardware, and other engineering groups to deliver high-quality software. - We participate throughout the product lifecycle, including requirements review, design review, usability assessment, risk evaluation, and defect resolution. - We follow our software development process and established engineering best practices. - We design, develop, test, and debug application software and systems that rely on logical and mathematical problem solving. - We collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers on the planning, design, development, and use of electronic data processing systems. - We determine user needs, analyze system capabilities, and resolve issues related to program intent, outputs, input data, programming methods, and controls. - We prepare operating instructions and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems as needed. - We ensure our software meets internal standards and quality expectations.
