### Must have:

### - We require active-duty U.S. military personnel who are within the final 180 days of service and are applying during the last 12 months of active-duty status. - We require an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance. - We prefer candidates with a bachelors degree in computer science, information technology/systems, engineering, or a related field plus 2 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience. - We require at least 2 years of experience designing, building, and supporting LAN, MAN, and WAN environments. - We require proficiency in evaluating network hardware and software, configuring systems, optimizing performance, and performing integration testing. - We value strong analytical, research, and problem-solving capabilities. - We require effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate well both independently and within a team. - We prefer candidates who can create rack drawings and Layer 2/Layer 3 network diagrams. - We prefer familiarity with cloud networking platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. - We prefer IAT Level II certification or equivalent preparation. - We may consider additional IT certifications that support the role. - We expect the candidate to meet the physical demands of the assigned training program, which may vary by instruction plan.

Responsibilities:

- We train the intern to serve as a Network Engineer under a designated Network Engineering Supervisor. - We provide hands-on experience in designing, planning, implementing, testing, and sustaining enterprise networks in Warfare Systems environments. - We have the intern work with subject matter experts to apply best practices in network architecture, component selection, integration testing, and modernization planning. - We assign the intern to design and document network schematics that address capacity, security, and future expansion needs. - We have the intern test networks and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues across LAN, MAN, and WAN environments. - We have the intern support recommendations for hardware and software selection based on mission requirements. - We have the intern integrate and evaluate large-scale, computer-connected network systems. - We ask the intern to assess emerging networking technologies and report on ways to improve capability. - We have the intern configure and administer routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, and related interconnections. - We have the intern support cloud network integration with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. - We expect the intern to communicate design recommendations and technical results clearly to stakeholders. - We encourage the intern to build professional relationships across the Warfare Systems team. - We have the intern complete and deliver a capstone network architecture project demonstrating end-to-end understanding. - We guide the intern through orientation, technical training, integration work, capstone delivery, and advanced operational exercises. - We support the intern in applying skills independently, pursuing additional IT certifications, and preparing for transition after the program.

This is an unpaid SkillBridge internship for transitioning active-duty service members, located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio, with travel funded by us if approved. The program is designed to provide meaningful mentorship, practical network engineering experience, and a pathway toward future roles with our organization, while respecting core-hour availability and mission-focused training needs.
