Job Description

A leading laser technology company is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to research, design, develop, and maintain software systems used in laser, semiconductor, industrial, military, aerospace, communications, and scientific applications.

This is a fully onsite position based in Lake Mary, Florida.

This position works closely with hardware, electrical, optical, and mechanical engineering teams to develop advanced laser system technologies and application-specific software solutions in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze software requirements to determine design feasibility within time and cost constraints
Design, develop, test, and maintain software for a variety of laser systems
Collaborate with hardware and engineering teams to evaluate software/hardware interfaces and overall system performance requirements
Develop software systems using engineering principles, scientific analysis, and mathematical models
Create and execute software testing procedures, validation, and documentation
Modify, update, and document software required for machine functionality
Develop custom software solutions for application-specific customer requirements
Support software troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer-related technical issues
Work cross-functionally with optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to develop new products and technologies
Participate in system integration, debugging, and performance optimization
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
5+ years of professional software development experience
Experience with Visual Basic, C, and/or C++
Experience with motion control software programming and development
Strong understanding of digital and analog electronics, laser controls, drives, servos, and PC-based control systems
Experience developing, testing, integrating, and modifying operating systems and application software
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and self-management skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Embedded software development experience
Vision system integration experience
Experience working with industrial automation, robotics, or laser systems
Experience in manufacturing or capital equipment environments
