The Optics Electronics Department is an electrical engineering organization that designs, tests, and integrates advanced electrical subsystems for airborne, naval, and land-based military applications. The role involves working on multi-disciplinary, multi-functional integrated product teams to design, develop, test, and/or integrate complex, state-of-the-art EO systems and subsystems. Activities may include analog and digital design, component trade studies, product development, supplier support, and digital logic development.
What You Will Do
Work in the product and technology domain.
Work under moderate supervision of technical leadership to analyze, design, and document electro-mechanical hardware from limited to high levels of complexity.
Engage with engineering team to understand design requirements.
Support and maintain FPGA designs using VHDL and Verilog.
Support FPGA synthesis, implementation, and debug using standard tool flows.
Support and maintain TCL/Batch scripts for build automation and repeatable workflows.
Create and execute simulation testbenches using ModelSim / QuestaSim.
Perform functional verification through simulation and lab validation.
Support troubleshooting in lab environments and during system integration.
Provide support for customers or internal reviews and meetings.
Support remote teams collaborating on common projects.
Learn to use independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities.
What You Will Learn
You will learn and utilize applicable internal processes and tools for the development of system level hardware.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience.
Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
Experience with Ethernet, UDP, and 1588 protocols.
Qualifications We Prefer
Proficiency in VHDL and Verilog.
Experience with ModelSim / QuestaSim.
Strong TCL scripting capability.
Experience with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, or equivalent).
Familiarity with Git or equivalent version control systems.
Experience with simulation-based verification.
Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracking methodologies.
Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink, including HDL generation workflows and integration into FPGA toolchains.
Experience supporting integration and test activities in a lab environment

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
