Job Description

Geotechnical Engineer - Entry Level (Numerical Modelling & Seismic Analasis)
New York City, NY
A leading geotechnical engineering consultancy in New York City is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing technical team.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about complex models and analysis. This is not the typical Geotechnical Engineering role. It requires a certain type of interest.
The group is involved in major infrastructure, transportation, and building projects across the United States and abroad, combining field investigation work with advanced geotechnical analysis and numerical modelling. This role offers strong exposure to both site-based engineering activities and analytical design work within a collaborative environment.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support geotechnical engineers and project managers in both field and office-based work. This includes participation in site investigations, construction monitoring, data collection, and the development of numerical models used to assess foundation performance and soil-structure interaction.
The position is well suited to an early-career engineer looking to build experience across geotechnical design computational analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with geotechnical field investigations, including logging borings and test pits, sampling, and field testing
Observe foundation and earthwork construction activities and monitor compliance with design documents
Prepare field logs, reports, and supporting documentation for geotechnical investigations
Collect, organise, and communicate field and laboratory data to senior engineers
Support review of foundation, structural, and excavation support drawings for analysis input
Assist in performing 2D and 3D finite element analyses under supervision
Develop plots, figures, and supporting material for technical reports and presentations
Collaborate with engineers to identify and resolve field and analysis-related issues
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical focus preferred)
0-3 years of relevant experience
EIT certification or progress toward FE exam
Strong academic background in geotechnical engineering (foundation design, FEM, soil mechanics preferred)
Exposure to PLAXIS, DeepEX, or similar geotechnical software preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work in both field and office environments
Ability to work independently and within a team structure
Valid driver's license in good standing preferred
What's on Offer
Exposure to major infrastructure and building projects across the US
Strong mix of fieldwork, construction monitoring, and advanced geotechnical modelling
Structured training and mentoring from senior engineers
Clear career development within a highly respected engineering consultancy
Competitive salary and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, paid time off, and professional development support
Employee-focused culture with mentoring programs and technical training opportunities
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career geotechnical engineer looking to build a strong technical foundation in both field and analytical work within a leading consultancy.
