Job Description

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Kafka Tester / QA Engineer with 4–7 years of experience in testing distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and messaging platforms. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience validating Kafka-based data pipelines, message flows, APIs, and microservices in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute test cases for Kafka-based applications and event-driven systems.
Validate message production, consumption, and data integrity across Kafka topics.
Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing for microservices and distributed applications.
Test Kafka producers, consumers, brokers, partitions, and topic configurations.
Verify message transformations, routing, and data consistency across systems.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and DevOps teams to identify and resolve defects.
Analyze logs and troubleshoot issues using Kafka monitoring and debugging tools.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts for API and backend testing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Prepare test plans, test reports, and defect documentation.

Required Skills
Core Testing Skills
4–7 years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Assurance.
Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.
Experience in Functional, Integration, Regression, and System Testing.
Hands-on experience with defect management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.

Kafka & Messaging
Strong experience testing Apache Kafka-based applications.
Understanding of Kafka architecture, topics, partitions, brokers, consumer groups, and offsets.
Experience validating producer and consumer message flows.
Knowledge of event-driven and streaming architectures.

API & Backend Testing
Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, or REST Assured.
Strong understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.
Ability to validate data flow between Kafka, APIs, and downstream systems.

Database Skills
Strong SQL skills for data validation and reconciliation.
Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
Ability to perform backend data verification and root cause analysis.

Automation (Preferred)
Experience with Selenium, Java, TestNG, JUnit, or similar automation frameworks.
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Experience in test automation for APIs and backend systems.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Telecom domains.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Knowledge of Kafka monitoring tools such as Confluent Control Center, Kafka Manager, or Splunk.
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Kafka certification or relevant messaging platform experience is a plus.

Educational Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.

Nice to Have
Experience with Confluent Kafka Platform.
Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter.
Experience testing real-time data streaming and event-processing applications.
Knowledge of Unix/Linux commands and shell scripting.
