Silicon Validation Engineer (Contract)

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary

Are you a highly skilled and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for pushing the boundaries of silicon technology? This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team focused on ensuring the highest quality and performance of cutting-edge silicon systems. In this fully onsite role based in a state-of-the-art lab environment in Hillsboro, OR, you will play a critical role in running, triaging, and maintaining silicon system regressions while reporting results to key stakeholders. Working Monday through Friday in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to validate complex SoC features and subsystems, debug intricate hardware and software issues, and contribute to the advancement of next-generation silicon platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Run, maintain, and manage silicon system regressions in a lab environment
Report results of silicon system regressions to relevant teams and stakeholders
Triage and debug issues using a variety of hardware and software debugging tools
Review and validate system updates made by other engineering teams
Develop and execute validation test plans for various SoC features and subsystems, including functional, electrical, and power/performance areas
Perform functional, stress, and performance testing using hardware and software tools
Analyze test results and identify, isolate, and resolve issues in a timely and thorough manner

Requirements

Minimum of 3 or more years of hands-on, engineering-level experience in silicon validation, testing, or debugging
Minimum of 3 or more years of demonstrated experience with PCIe, CXL, IO, and endpoint validation including network and storage
Minimum of 3 or more years of experience with electrical validation including SerDes and IO
Demonstrated validation experience in one or more of the following areas: functional validation including BIOS and firmware development and debug, electrical validation, or power and performance validation
Hands-on experience with hardware and software debug tools in a lab environment
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Engineering-level expertise in PCIe, CXL, IO, endpoints including network and storage, and associated debugging techniques
Strong knowledge of electrical validation areas including SerDes and IO
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including Python, C, and C++
Working knowledge of Verilog
Applied understanding of computer architecture and CPU/SoC validation principles, including SoC subsystem, system-level, and platform-level functionality
Understanding of system-level software and firmware
Experience with hardware and software debug tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and BERT
Familiarity with board-level schematics
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a lab environment

Additional Details

Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
Duration: 3 months
Pay Range*: $60.50 - $68.50 per hour
Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
Job Status: Non-Exempt
