Job Description

An established building automation and controls specialist is looking to appoint an experienced HVAC Controls Engineer with strong DDC programming expertise and exposure to critical environments. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically demanding projects, including large-scale BAS systems, with scope to deepen your engineering capability over time. Role Responsibilities
Design, configure, and commission HVAC controls systems using DDC platforms
Develop, test, and modify control strategies to meet project requirements
Work extensively with Distech Controls hardware and software
Interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to implement effective control logic
Carry out system commissioning, functional testing, and optimisation
Support integration of BMS with third-party systems via open protocols
Troubleshoot and resolve system faults across live environments
Contribute to documentation including point lists, control descriptions, and as-built drawings
Support upgrades, retrofits, and expansion of existing BAS installations
Collaborate with project managers, mechanical contractors, and client stakeholders
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum 3 years' experience within HVAC controls or building automation
Proven experience working with Distech controls systems
Strong understanding of DDC principles and control strategy development
Experience commissioning and programming BMS systems in live environments
Familiarity working within critical facilities such as data centres, healthcare, or similar
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and sequences of operation
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication skills when working with internal teams and clients
Additional or Desirable Experience
Experience scratch programming complex and large-scale BAS systems
Exposure to mission-critical environments and high-availability systems
Knowledge of energy optimisation and system performance tuning
Wider experience with integration protocols and multi-vendor systems
Experience leading elements of projects or mentoring junior engineers
