The RF Microelectronics, Module Design, and Foundry Services Department (RFMicro) develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. There is an exciting opportunity in the department for a 1st Shift Senior RF Electrical Test Engineer to join the production test workcenter supporting the test of gallium arsenide and gallium nitride Monolithic Microwave Integration Circuits (MMICs). This role requires a solid understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals, RF calibration methods, experience with automated RF test equipment, and strong data analysis skills.

As a member of the RFMicro Department, the individual will be responsible for sustaining and improving automated RF test systems, performing test bench setup and troubleshooting, resolving MMIC test issues, and driving processes improvement within the test area. The engineer will work across multiple functions, including quality, operations, engineering, and foundry customers to ensure reliable, accurate test results that meet customer requirements. Presence on the manufacturing floor is required for quick resolution of issues and quick reaction time to prevent interruption to customer commitments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals, demonstrated experience with MMIC testing in a production environment, experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of RF test equipment, be an excellent communicator, and have a drive to learn and improve the areas where they work. The ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail, maintain organized, and work well in small cross-functional teams is essential to success.

This role will be 100% on-site and based in Andover, MA.

What You Will Do:

Oversee measurements on GaAs and GaN devices and MMICs (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) in a production environment
Setup, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical test systems
Utilize software to control test equipment and upload test results
Validate test systems setups, review, and accept compliant device data
Support the wafer foundry and MMIC design teams
Interface with project leads, designers, and customers to ensure compliant and accurate test results
Actively communicate with parties within and outside of the work center (off-shift engineers, work center leads, operation leads, manufacturing personnel, equipment team, etc.)

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in RF, microwave, or MMIC test within a production or high-volume manufacturing environment
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
Strong knowledge of RF and microwave fundamentals including gain, P1dB, linearity, S-parameters, noise figure, and power measurements
Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters
Experience executing and interpreting RF calibrations (power, S-parameter calibration, de-embedding)
Demonstrated ability to support, troubleshoot, and optimize automated RF test systems, including test fixtures and probe cards
Strong analytical skills with experience using data analysis tools (Excel, JMP, Python, or similar) to drive yield improvement and root-cause investigations
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting procedures, reporting test results, and communicating technical findings

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
