We have an opportunity for an electrical engineer who is seeking to utilize their strong academic background and experience in RF Design theory and design and testing, including architectures, subsystems, components and Active Electronically Steered Antennas (AESAs). The successful candidate will employ their working knowledge of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and analytical skills in electromagnetic and microwave theory.

Responsibilities include design and hands-on testing of microwave components, cards and systems plus providing technical support to production activities. Team leadership skills including cost and schedule management plus proposal writing and presentation experience are desired.

This is an onsite position at one of the following Massachusetts locations - Andover or Tewksbury. Location assignments will be made based on business or program need.

What You Will Do

Design of RF microwave components and phased array applications
Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products.
Design and/or test MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies
Integration and test of component level and system level phased array hardware
Some travel to integration sites, plus customer and subcontractor facilities, may be required.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
Experience in Microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test.
Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys and Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition Cadence Virtuso, and analytical tools such as Matlab.
Experience performing basic RF calculations and Cascaded Analysis.

Qualifications We Value:

Background designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design and analog filter design.
Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission line design.
Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X-Band.
Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques.
Propensity for learning through self-study and being comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level.
Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits, modules or test fixtures.
Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices.
Experience with integrated circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso software tools.
Familiarity with semiconductor processing and concepts, e.g. technologies like GaAs, GaN, SOI.
Strong academic background that includes courses in: Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems.
Strong hands-on experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs).
Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering OR PhD degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
