Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Reliability Maintainability and Safety (RMS) Engineer with experience or practical application in working with electronic and mechanical systems and supporting products designed for military and commercial avionic platforms. What You Will Do:
Supports program development through the application of reliability and maintainability techniques.
Participates in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing reliability and maintainability methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes in accordance with commercial and military standards.
Provides support to reliability and maintainability modeling and predictions analysis, testability analysis, maintainability and built-in-test demonstrations, environmental testing, FMEA/FMECA, and FRACAS.
Perform Accelerated Stress Testing (AST) and developing Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) profiles. These testing efforts include Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) / Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), and the development of Reliability Enhancement Test (RET) procedures and reports, overseeing and conducting testing, conducting failure review board meetings, and defining corrective actions.
Serve as a Reliability & Maintainability representative to engineering and business leadership
Perform safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761 or military assessments in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, including but not limited to, System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs).
Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development activity.
Review of design and development documentation for safety critical equipment.
Review analysis of peer safety engineers.
Mentor and train less experienced Reliability engineers.
Accountable to team members and organizational leadership for committed work and responsibilities.
Develop and maintain expertise in assigned areas (program, function, process, technology, etc).
Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Experience in safety-critical systems; ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E safety standards.
Experience with systems engineering lifecycle, with knowledge of how to apply reliability and maintainability techniques to systems requirements
Experience supporting design and development teams to develop, assess, and verify Reliability & Maintainability related requirements for safety-critical systems
Experience in conducting/developing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), Reliability & Maintainability analysis and predictions
Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), Built In Test (BIT) design / verification analysis, and/or testability analysis
Qualifications We Prefer:
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
Working knowledge of ARP4761 OR MIL-STD 882E, basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297
Experience using tools and databases such as Quanterion 217 plus, MiLHDBK 217 NPRD, and FMD-2016
Experience and knowledge of aircraft or electronic systems
Knowledge of basic circuit analysis and the ability to perform detailed analyses on complex systems
Experience planning and conducting Accelerated Stress Testing, or a willingness to learn and apply those techniques, such as Highly Accelerated Life Test processes (HALT), Reliability Enhancement Test (RET), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS)
Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools, or a willingness to learn
Good presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
