The Digital Technology (DT) organization at Raytheon empowers teammates across the globe to communicate, collaborate, and innovate for customer success. The Senior Principal System Administrator (Manager, Information Workplace Services) plays a pivotal role in advancing fast-paced, classified programs by developing, implementing, and maintaining secure, cost-efficient environments. This position requires collaboration with diverse teams to define computing requirements and deliver comprehensive solutions to complex IT infrastructure challenges.

What You Will Do:

System Administration and Operations: Provide system administration support in a heterogeneous environment, primarily comprising Microsoft Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), leveraging Linux fundamentals, including scripting (Bash), patching, and security hardening.
Troubleshooting and Collaboration: Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical issues of moderate to high complexity, including hardware and operating system integration. Collaborate with dynamic teams in fast-paced technological environments.
Cybersecurity and Compliance: Partner with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain compliance with security requirements.
Documentation and Training: Develop, document, and deliver training on advanced IT processes and procedures.
24/7 Operational Support: Support systems operating 24/7, with occasional work beyond standard hours and up to 10% travel to other U.S. RMD sites or local MA/NH locations as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience.
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Experience with container and orchestration technologies, such as Rancher RKE2, OpenShift Container Platform, VMware Tanzu, or other Kubernetes platforms.
Experience with automation tools, such as CI/CD pipelines with GitLab, Jenkins, or similar platforms, as well as scripting tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Python, Golang, and Bash.

Qualifications We Prefer:

Cloud and Kubernetes Expertise: Experience designing and operating scalable, secure, high-performing systems, platforms, and Kubernetes clusters. Familiarity with Kubernetes components, including service mesh, service discovery, package management, observability/monitoring, runtimes, and security.
GitOps and DevOps: Hands-on experience with GitOps practices and Kubernetes cluster management tools, such as ArgoCD, Packer, Helm, HAProxy and Kustomize.
Linux and Windows Administration: Experience with Linux OS maintenance (e.g., RedHat kickstart, patching with satellite servers, RPM packages, performance tuning, networking, user management, and security hardening) as well as Windows OS administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, LDAP).
Virtualization and Storage: Experience with VMware technologies, including vSphere, VDI, and ESXi, and expertise in NAS/SAN administration and enterprise backup solutions for storage and data protection.
Compliance and Security: Experience with compliance and security tools, such as Splunk, Nessus, SCAP, STIG, Ivanti, Grype, OpenSCAP, Syft, etc.
Development Tools and Frameworks: Experience with developer tools, including Git, Artifactory, Bitbucket, CI/CD tools, Jira, Atlassian, Azure DevOps.
Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of Agile practices, including SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
Experience with tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, ELK, etc.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
