ABOUT FIREFLY Come be a part of the 21st Century Space Race As an end to end space transportation company Firefly Aerospace is on a mission to enable our world to launch land and operate in space anywhere anytime Our launch vehicles lunar landers and orbital vehicles provide government and commercial customers with full mission services from low Earth orbit to the surface of the Moon and beyond Headquartered in north Austin Texas Firefly is looking for passionate hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space SUMMARY Do you have a passion for designing cutting edge technology and an interest in Spacecrafts applications If you have a knack for problem solving and enjoy working collaboratively in a small team we have exciting opportunities for you to join our Flight Software group as an Aerospace Software Engineer The Flight Software group is responsible for the design and implementation of high reliability application level software for Firefly Launch Vehicles and spacecraft As an Aerospace Software Engineer you will work in a small collaborative group through all stages of the launch vehicle and spacecraft design As a key member of our team you will help develop test and integrate the flight software for Firefly Spacecraft You will work in a group of flight software engineers through all stages of the flight software development processes and collaborate with other engineering teams RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical leadership on the Flight Software Team to develop design test and integrate flight softwareDesign implementation and maintenance of high reliability C softwarePerform work on time meeting all functional and performance requirementsWork closely with the other engineering groups for the success of Firefly programsAdhere to the Aerospace Software Engineering Groups processes procedures and best practicesSupport various vehicle testing and operation events including launchDesign implementation and maintenance of internal software tools using PythonQUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences Software Engineering or a related fieldExcellent understanding of Object Oriented Design and the C programming language7 years experience in a software engineering position or similarFamiliarity with real time operating systems software and the Linux operating systemAbility to work closely with other teammates and in a fast paced environment to meet strict deadlinesAbility to work in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirementsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDesired Masters Degree in Computer Sciences Software Engineering or a related fieldUnderstanding of data path pipelines state machines and arithmetic operation7 years experience in an aerospace software engineering or related positionExperience deploying and using CICD pipelines for C softwareAbility understand and disposition C static analysis resultsFirefly offers outstanding benefits for our employees including generous health dental and vision plans with low plan deductibles parental leave educational reimbursement short term disability and flexible PTO options To conform to US Government space technology export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ITAR you must be a US citizen lawful permanent resident of the US protected individual as defined by 8 USC 1324ba3 or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the US Department of State Firefly Aerospace Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with Firefly is governed based on merit competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race color religion gender national originethnicity veteran status disability status age sexual orientation gender identity marital status mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status
