Job Description

The Studio Technician is responsible for ensuring the continued operation of the equipment in the SAE Institute studios and providing technical support to students in their use of equipment Helps to ensure that equipment and studio operations are conducted in accordance with SAE Institute policies and procedures Studio Technician Duties and Accountabilities Maintenance of studios and other practical and resource facilitiesResponsibility for maintaining and updating equipment and resources databasesReport faults with studios and equipmentAssist in repairs and installations as requiredMonitor stock levels for cables and manufacture more where requiredFacilitate and record student studio bookingEnsure appropriate student behavior and studio usage during practical sessionsKeep records of equipment loans to studentsAnswer after hours telephone inquiriesAttend open houses and marketing events as requiredKeep work station and surrounding areas tidy at all timesEnsure all electronic files and documents are organized and managed appropriatelyMonitor campus security during after hours practical sessionsBe responsible for locking and alarming the campus on completion of after hours practical sessionsResponsible for carrying out the local Campus Emergency Response and Evacuation procedures and complying with the Campus Security and Crime Prevention PolicyAttend all scheduled work times punctuallyUndertake other duties as requested by managementStudio Technician Key Relationships I Technology SupervisorII Campus DirectorIII SAE Institute Local StaffIV SAE StudentsStudio Technician Key Result Areas 4 8 objectives with associated activities and KPIs which can then align with the performance plan that the incumbent is accountable for Objective Ensure Studio equipment is serviced and working properlyMaintain Studio Equipment InventoryMajor Activities Provide technical support to students in their use of equipmentReport faults with studios and equipmentAssist in repairs and installations as requiredTrack the use of equipment and maintain inventoryKey Performance Indicators Ensure appropriate student behavior and studio usage during practical sessionsFacilitate and record student studio bookingAn accurate accounting of inventory is maintained at all timesStudio Technician Qualifications Associate Degree and Certifications in the creative media field Preferred1 2 years relevant experience working with various equipment and consoles in creative media fieldKnowledge of and industry experience in a related discipline areaCOMPETENCIES Ability to work in a teamTrust worthy resourceful punctual and able to multi taskDemonstrated high level of communication skills both verbal and writtenPossess an appropriate qualification level in a related fieldKnowledge of and industry experience in a related discipline areaProven organizational skillsAbility to organize prioritize and meet deadlinesProficient in the use of the required hardware and softwareFamiliar with using the Internet and emailDemonstrated client service orientationAbility to work in and foster a harmonious working environmentWillingness to pursue professional development opportunitiesStudio Technician Additional Information Full time position Monday to Friday 9am to 530pm Hours may change and must remain flexible based on campus needs some evening and weekend hours may be required This is a campus on site based position Sitting and standing for long periods Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty five 25 pounds such as files stacks of paper equipment and other materials Moving from place to place within the organization minimal reaching for items above and below desk level Strength dexterity coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods
