### - We require a bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. - We expect at least 8 years of practical software engineering experience delivering customer-facing Android applications. - We need strong Android development skills in Kotlin or Java. - We look for a solid grasp of mobile architecture, UI/UX principles and frameworks, GraphQL, mobile security, and performance tuning. - We require experience with Git or similar version control tools, CI/CD pipelines, and the mobile release process. - We need experience leading large, multi-team initiatives, including shaping roadmaps for complex projects lasting 6 months or more. - We value strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical ideas to both technical and non-technical partners. - We look for experience in startup environments, launching products from zero to one, and scaling them into highly tailored applications. - We expect the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-moving, dynamic setting. - We want a genuine passion for mobile technology and a commitment to outstanding user experiences. - Preferred: experience building systems in the automotive sector. - Preferred: experience with mobile app testing, experimentation frameworks, and automation frameworks. - Preferred: experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure. - Preferred: experience with mobile apps that connect to IoT devices.

Responsibilities:

- We will rely on you to lead the design, development, maintenance, and mobile release of our Android applications. - We expect you to shape the technical architecture and implementation of our mobile platform and related solutions from the ground up, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance. - You will help strengthen team capability by sharing knowledge through pair programming, code reviews, presentations, sample code, and documentation. - You will introduce and uphold best practices for programming, deployment workflows, and monitoring across our mobile platforms. - You will stay current on emerging mobile technologies and industry trends, and recommend new tools and techniques when they add value. - You will provide technical leadership for Android strategy and execution across customer-facing products such as vehicle connectivity, navigation, EV charging, vehicle purchasing, and other digital initiatives. - You will partner with engineering leadership, product, design, and cross-functional teams to align on direction and delivery. - You will influence engineering standards across teams and help ensure architectural consistency, reliability, maintainability, and strong performance. - You will lead complex initiatives from concept to release while balancing immediate business needs with longer-term platform investment. - You will identify risks, support technical decision-making, and drive engineering quality through disciplined execution and continuous improvement. - You will mentor both senior and junior engineers and help grow the overall effectiveness of the Android organization.

This full-time Staff Software Engineer (Android) role sits on our Digital Products team and is based in Fremont, California, with occasional in-office attendance and periodic travel for meetings and company events. We offer competitive compensation, a performance bonus program, and benefits that support physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, including medical, dental, vision, income protection, 401(k) with employer match and immediate vesting, generous PTO, and paid parental leave. The initial base salary range is $165,000 to $200,000, with a California range of $181,500 to $220,000.
