Job Description

#### Job Description

Join a growing engineering team delivering complex, high-visibility projects across data centers, offshore facilities, and modular EPC environments. This is a hands-on design role where you'll own critical mechanical equipment and piping systems from concept through detailed design, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in Houston. No sponsorship, no relocation; this opportunity is tailored for local Houston engineers ready to make a direct impact.

About the Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, layout, and analysis of mechanical equipment and piping systems in an EPC, modular engineering environment. You will develop and optimize piping routes, select and design pipe supports, and perform piping stress analyses to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. Your work will directly support the successful delivery of data center, offshore, and related industrial projects, collaborating with project, process, structural, and electrical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop equipment layouts and piping routing models for data centers, offshore facilities, and modular EPC projects, ensuring constructability and maintainability.
* Design and select pipe supports, including spring, rigid, and dynamic supports, in alignment with project specifications and industry codes.
* Perform piping stress analyses using appropriate software tools, interpret results, and implement necessary design changes.
* Prepare and review piping and mechanical design deliverables, including P\&IDs, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, support drawings, and material take-offs.
* Coordinate with process, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to integrate piping and mechanical designs into overall plant layouts.
* Resolve design issues during project execution, including field engineering support, design clarifications, and as-built updates.
* Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and model reviews, incorporating feedback into final designs.
* Support the development and implementation of modular design strategies and standardization of piping and equipment systems.

Key Requirements:

* 3--15 years of experience as a Mechanical or Piping Engineer, with at least 2 years in EPC or modular engineering design environments.
* Proven experience in mechanical equipment and piping design, including equipment layout and piping routing in 3D design tools.
* Hands-on experience with piping stress analysis, including model setup, load cases, and interpretation of results.
* Demonstrated capability in pipe support design and selection for a variety of service conditions.
* Background in data center, offshore, or analogous industrial facilities (such as petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial).
* Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31 series, API, applicable mechanical design codes).
* Ability to work on multiple projects, manage priorities, and deliver accurate design work within schedule.
* Local to Houston, TX, and able to work without sponsorship or relocation assistance.

Desirable Skills:

* Experience with data center cooling systems, chilled water distribution, and associated mechanical systems.
* Offshore or subsea project experience, or analogous experience in complex industrial facilities.
* Familiarity with modularization strategies, skid-mounted systems, and system-level design integration.
* Proficiency with piping and mechanical design software such as CAESAR II (or equivalent), and 3D modeling tools (e.g., Smart 3D, PDMS, Plant 3D).
* Experience in system-level engineering, including hydraulic analysis, system modeling, or performance evaluation.
* Prior involvement in project proposals, estimates, or FEED-level design.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (required).
* Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred for senior-level candidates).
* Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain (preferred, especially for candidates with 5 years' experience).
* Relevant industry training or certifications in piping design, stress analysis, or mechanical engineering software (preferred).

If you are a Houston-based Mechanical/Piping Engineer with strong design experience and want to contribute to complex EPC and data center projects, apply now to explore this opportunity.
