Job Description

Solvere Technical Group is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanical Engineer Propulsion Journeyman to support federal shipbuilding and acquisition programs The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise in the analysis design optimization and integration of ship propulsion systems supporting the development of technical data packages engineering reviews and trade studies for US Government maritime programs RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct engineering analyses of ship propulsion systems and propulsion alternativesDevelop review and maintain technical data packages and engineering documentationPerform engineering trade studies to evaluate propulsion system configurations and ship design alternativesDevelop propulsion system concepts machinery arrangements and propulsion control system designsPerform engineering analyses supporting propulsion system integration and optimizationConduct ship weight assessments related to propulsion equipment and associated mechanical systemsEvaluate propulsion system performance and recommend design improvementsEnsure designs comply with American Bureau of Shipping ABS Naval Vessel Rules NVR and applicable commercial ship design standards and regulationsParticipate in technical design reviews and provide engineering recommendations throughout the project lifecycleCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams program management and government stakeholders to support ship design construction modernization and acquisition effortsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Familiarity with American Bureau of Shipping ABS Naval Vessel Rules NVR and commercial ship design rules and regulationsKnowledge of marine propulsion systems propulsion control systems machinery arrangements and ship mechanical system integrationAbility to conduct engineering analyses perform propulsion configuration trade studies and develop technical documentationExperience performing ship weight assessments and evaluating propulsion system configurationsStrong analytical problem solving and technical writing skillsAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams and communicate technical information to government and contractor personnelProficient in Microsoft Office software suite including Word Excel and PowerPointEDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering Marine Engineering or a related technical discipline from an ABET accredited institutionMinimum of three 3 years of professional engineering experience in marine mechanical engineering or propulsion systemsMinimum of three 3 years of documented experience developing ship propulsion systems propulsion control systems machinery arrangements ship weight assessments and conducting propulsion configuration trade studiesExperience supporting federal shipbuilding or boatbuilding acquisition programs is preferredExperience supporting Department of Defense DoD ACAT I or Department of Homeland Security DHS Level I shipbuilding programs is preferredTRAVEL Travel may be required based on program and customer needs SECURITY Active Secret T3 security clearance required The anticipated hiring range for this position is 90000 to 97000 annually Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills experience education certifications internal equity and geographic location BENEFITS Solvere offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package The Solvere benefits package includes medical dental and vision insurance for the employee andor families Solvere also includes basic life insurance plus short and long term disability for the employee Employees may elect to enroll in our companys 401k plan Employees will also accrue paid time off and holidays Additional voluntary options include supplemental insurance plans About the Company Visit wwwsolveretechnicalcom Solvere Technical Group is committed to non discrimination and equal employment opportunity All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination based on disability protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by applicable law
