Mechanical Engineer, Scientific Instrumentation

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will transform an open-source Raman spectrometer into a compact, manufacturable benchtop instrument. This includes designing a Class 1 laser enclosure, managing the mechanical bill of materials, and coordinating with optical and software engineers for system integration.

Requirements: Candidates must have a BS or MS in mechanical engineering with hands-on experience in designing scientific instruments and safety-critical hardware enclosures. Proficiency in CAD and experience with sheet metal design and electromechanical integration are required.
