### Must have:

### - Strong C/C++ development experience on Linux, including debugging, performance analysis, and memory/resource management. - At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems. - Solid relational database experience with PostgreSQL or a comparable system, including schema design, advanced SQL, and application access patterns. - Ability to work on-site in Ronkonkoma, New York. - Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Deep understanding of Linux IPC mechanisms, multithreading, synchronization, and concurrent data handling. - Hands-on experience building socket-based client and server applications and resolving real-world network issues. - Advanced database skills such as query tuning, schema optimization, and stored functions. - Comfort working at the Linux shell and using Bash or similar scripting for operations and diagnostics. - Strong problem-solving, communication, time management, and technical documentation skills. - Ability to prioritize across concurrent product development and field-support needs. - Experience with industrial or embedded communications such as RS-232, RS-485, Modbus, or CAN bus is preferred. - Experience developing custom embedded Linux systems with Buildroot, Yocto, or similar tools is preferred. - Knowledge of secure remote connectivity, including VPNs, TLS, certificates, authentication, and network security fundamentals is preferred. - Familiarity with Python, Rust, or another language useful for tooling, automation, testing, or systems work is preferred. - Responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality is preferred.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain C/C++ applications and services on our Linux-based PROTEUS controller. - Build and support connectivity and data acquisition between PROTEUS, third-party ATGs, gateways, polling systems, and our TankActive platform. - Implement and troubleshoot TCP/IP, UDP/IP, and serial communications, including framing, parsing, timeouts, retries, and recovery. - Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, stored functions, and data access code for dependable ingestion and retrieval of operational data. - Protect data quality through validation, deduplication, timestamp handling, and replay or backfill handling. - Collaborate with our TankActive application engineers on data contracts and service boundaries. - Diagnose issues across hardware, operating system, network, protocol, and database layers in deployed field systems. - Create tests, diagnostic utilities, documentation, and operational scripts. - Participate in code reviews and release validation.
