About the Role We are looking for a versatile Design Engineer who thrives on variety. In this role you will work across a wide range of projects—from custom golf cart modifications and recreational vehicle upgrades to industrial fuel measurement systems and control valves. You will take concepts from initial requirements through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and production support. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical mechanical and electromechanical problems across different industries and scales.
Key Responsibilities
• Design mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, and systems for diverse applications (golf cart modifications, industrial fuel measurement equipment, control valves, and related products).
• Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations, select materials, and apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
• Develop and test prototypes; iterate based on performance, safety, and reliability results.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Support project documentation, including BOMs, revision control, technical reports, and operating manuals.
• Stay current with relevant standards, materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies applicable to both recreational vehicle modifications and industrial fluid/control systems.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• [2–5+] years of experience as a Design Engineer or in a similar hands-on mechanical design role.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred; AutoCAD, Creo, or similar also valuable).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, materials selection, and common manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects of varying scale and complexity.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the flexibility to switch between consumer/recreational and industrial applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with vehicle or golf cart modifications, custom fabrication, or recreational equipment.
• Experience designing fluid systems, valves, metering/measurement equipment, or industrial process controls.
• Familiarity with FEA, prototyping methods, or basic electrical/mechanical integration.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., for pressure systems, vehicle safety, or industrial equipment).
