Lead Quality Engineer

Job Description

**OVERVIEW**

The Lead Quality Engineer leads local Quality team in providing quality solutions to promote supplier conformance and customer satisfaction. The Lead Quality Engineer will be the lead person handling ISO 9001/AS9100 audits and any customer audits at IEWC facilities. The Lead Quality Engineer will conduct Supplier Quality audits and will lead internal audits. The Lead Quality Engineer will be leading process improvement projects to drive efficiencies, improve safety and reduce overall costs. The Lead Quality Engineer is required to perform their job duties with strong decision making authority.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

++Quality Management:++

* Ensure Quality procedures are current and followed consistently by Quality team members.
* Exhibit a high regard for customer satisfaction and supplier partnering.
* Lead or facilitate Company Quality and Process Improvement projects.
* Represent the Quality Department in customer and vendor meetings both on and off site.

++Quality Duties++

* Liaison with 3^rd^ party registrar for ISO 9001 \& AS9100 audits as well as customer audits at IEWC facilities.
* Provide guidance to Quality team members on Product Compliance (ROHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, TSCA).
* Process Customer Complaints in Sales Force.
* Enter data for trend analysis for Customer Returns, Customer Corrective Actions, Customer complaints, and Supplier Corrective Actions.
* Synchronize all supplier returns with Quality Coordinator.
* Provide guidance to Coordinators in filling out Quality Surveys submitted by Customers.

++Quality Analysis++

* Using Quality Data, identify cost saving opportunities and work with corresponding functional owners in reducing overall business costs.
* Verify the effectiveness of ISO Quality Audits (internal and external), Action Items, Customer Complaints, and Customer and Supplier corrective actions and provide closure when appropriate.
* Assist with trend analysis for audit, customer returns, corrective actions and customer requests and complaints.
* Ensure that proper inspection requirements are in place based on current and historical inventory problems.
* Assist with the analysis of cost of non-conformance and suggest improvements as a result of this analysis.

++Audits++

* Conduct Supplier Quality audits to improve supplier performance and build partnerships with suppliers
* Lead Internal audits and ensure compliance to ISO9001 \& AS9100 standards.
* Compile, analyze, and report data regarding customer returns, corrective actions and customer complaints, as well as be the point person for supplier development program.
* Take an active role in best practice auditing exercises.
* Generate action items from audit findings and partner with internal and external key players to put corrective actions into place.
* Maintain records of the nature of non-conformities during internal audits and of any subsequent actions taken, and ensure involvement of appropriate personnel to address these situations.
* Quality contact for Customers and Suppliers
* Ensure customer requests \& complaints are managed to satisfaction and completion.

++Technical Support++

* Report status of projects and programs to Quality management according to schedules.
* Develop teams to assist in project development and completion.
* Investigate suggestions, ideas and concepts from employees, at the direction of Quality management.
* Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of methods, processes, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
* Provide technical support to all employees and customers regarding quality, UL \& CSA labeling matters.
* Perform internal audits at company facilities as required.

++Records++

* Complete and maintain all required records, files, paperwork and documentation.
* Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
* Maintain equipment calibration records and schedules.

++Training++

* Present quality briefings to new and current employees as required.

**TECHNICAL SKILLS**

* **Education and/or Experience:** A bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience. 1 years of SAP configuration preferred.
* **Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:** A valid driver's license and an ability to obtain a passport. Certified Quality Auditor certification or equivalent.
* **Reasoning Ability:** Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and business information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

* **Computer Applications Skills:** Ability to work in a Windows environment, to work with your department's business applications and with standard current computer applications, including SAP.
