COMPANY OVERVIEW Balchem is committed to making the world a healthier place by delivering trusted innovative and science based solutions for the health and nutritional needs of the world Balchem employs approximately 1400 employees worldwide who provide the service quality and technology that enables our customers to win with their customers We have built a reputation for delivering results to all of our stakeholders Founded in 1967 Balchem a Maryland corporation became a publicly traded company in 1970 and is listed on Nasdaq under the symbol BCPC Our corporate headquarters is located in Montvale New Jersey and we have a broad network of sales offices manufacturing sites and R\&D centers primarily located in the US and Europe The Company consists of three business segments Human Nutrition and Health Animal Nutrition and Health and Specialty Products POSITION SUMMARY Process Engineer provides technical expertise for the design standards process capabilities scale ups hazard analysis performance monitoring technical training and continuous improvements for a site or group of locations within the HNH business This position will plan support and where applicable execute engineering deliverables for the sites production and packaging functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides technical leadership to enable new product or process development by collaborating with research and development corporate engineering and or technical groups from other locations to develop engineering packages to deliver the capabilities requiredProvides technical expertise to generate and track value by implementing improvements to existing processes and to provide guidance for process safety evaluationsDesigns experiments with internal and external resources to reduce variation validate process change or evaluate a projects cost benefitDevelops project scopes justification P\&IDs drawings and controls narratives to plan support and execute process improvementsAuthors and reviews documents including Preventive Maintenance plans Standard Operating Procedures Material Masters and other formsLeads and provide direction for other operational and engineering resources assigned to projects and processes including coaching mentoring and knowledge developmentKeeps abreast of emerging manufacturing technology trends and developments and incorporate into design requirementsWorks with limited direction using additional research and interpretation to identify issuesproblemsResponsible for technical support and improvement in the areas of material handling ingredients preparation receiving CIP and liquid \& powder processingOther duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Bachelors degree in chemical mechanical or biosystems engineering or equivalent experienceRelevant experience minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environmentStrong safety orientationProficient computer skills Word Excel ERPSpecific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and TPM systemsClear sense of urgency and ability to manage priorities to meet immediate needs and long term goalsAbility to manage time and workload efficiently and the ability to prioritize and modify priorities accordinglySelf motivation and ability to work independentlyDemonstrated ability to work and develop others in a team environmentSensitive to other culturesbackgrounds able to work in a multi cultural workplaceDemonstrated ability to function in a fast paced environment while moving multiple simultaneous projects forwardStrong verbal and written communication skills to discuss develop and implement planHigh sensitivity to quality and on time delivery of commitmentsAbility to develop othersPREFERRED Food or pharmaceutical packagingWorking understanding of PLCsKnowledge of Computer Aided Design SoftwareKnowledge of OSIsoft PI SystemPast understanding of food GMPs and hygienic designSpecific knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and TPM systemsWillingness to travel up to 25 of the time WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the functions of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hearOften required to spend time in plant environments with operating and maintenance personnel requiring one to kneel crouch crawl bend ascend and descend stairs andor laddersVision requirements include close vision depth perception color vision and the ability to adjust focus
