ABOUT FIREFLY AEROSPACE Firefly Aerospace is a space and defense technology company on a mission to reliably and repeatedly launch land and operate space systems from Earth to the Moon and beyond As the partner of choice for critical space missions Firefly is the first commercial company to launch a satellite to orbit with 24 hour notice and the first company to achieve a successful Moon landing Headquartered in north Austin Texas Firefly is looking for passionate hardworking innovators to join our team and help fuel our successful trajectory into space SUMMARY As a Ground Support Equipment GSE Manufacturing Engineer you will coordinate the procurement and fabrication of a massive portfolio of hardware supporting all of Fireflys endeavors The GSE Department is responsible for the design and fabrication of nearly all non flight hardware for launch vehicles spacecraft and R\&D including but not limited to launch sites test stands transport fixtures manufacturing and assembly jigs and payload integration systems Fireflys GSE team supports every major program at Firefly Alpha Launch A330 Medium Launch Blue Ghost and Elytra On a daily basis you will work directly with senior leadership engineers welders test technicians purchasers and contractors to facilitate high quality cost effective and on time GSE builds You will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques to influence and drive simplicity manufacturability and operability into mechanical and fluid systems This position is located at our rocket manufacturing site in Briggs TX just north of Cedar Park RESPONSIBILITIES Own and improve upon existing work order process to improve efficiency between engineering drawing release and completion of fabrication including drawing review material procurement material organization \& kitting Non Destructive Testing assembly proof testing coating and commissioningDirect interaction with technicians to reconcile differences in design intent vs as builtPerforming makebuy decisions to hit project budget \& schedule requirementsEstablish manage and leverage relationships with key suppliers and internal customersParticipation in design reviews providing feedback on design for operability serviceability and manufacturabilityCreation and upkeep of milestone based schedules to communicate build progress to stakeholdersIdentification and dispositioning of potential non conformances found throughout the build lifecycleAssist design engineers by creating mBOMs creating RFQs and managing virtual inventory QUALIFICATIONS Required Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field3 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment working directly with welded structural assemblies pipe \& tube assemblies large precision machines sheet steel bending \& cuttingKnowledge of common NDE methods for weldments including but not limited to Fluorescent Dye Penetrant Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic MethodsExperience with CAD software Siemens NX preferredExperience with Odoo or other comparable ERP SystemOrganizational skills to consolidate and communicate progress and complex systems and deliverablesKnowledge of GD\&T \& familiarity with ASME Y145Workingfunctional knowledge of basic fluid system components ie valves tubing piping flangesExcellent written and verbal communication skills to convey methodologies for assembly and troubleshootingAble to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly instructionsStrong interpersonal and conflict resolution skillsAbility to thrive in high stakes stressful short deadline environmentsCritical thinking and strong decision making abilityDesired Familiarity with AWS D11 \& D171Ability to lift 40lbsExperience working at outdoor job sites and on shop floors directly with technicians and weldersExperience operating or working near mobile equipment such as forklifts and cranesLift and Rigging experienceFirefly offers outstanding benefits for our employees including generous health dental and vision plans with low plan deductibles parental leave educationalrelocation reimbursement short term disability and flexible PTO options To conform to US Government space technology export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ITAR you must be a US citizen lawful permanent resident of the US protected individual as defined by 8 USC 1324ba3 or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the US Department of State Firefly Aerospace Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with Firefly is governed based on merit competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race color religion gender national originethnicity veteran status disability status age sexual orientation gender identity marital status mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status
