Position Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, develop, and support functional, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical systems and components for heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment.
This position will provide engineering design, integration, analysis, and execution support for new and existing vehicle platforms. **Cooling system design experience is preferred**, although candidates may qualify based on broader relevant mechanical engineering experience.
The position requires a minimum of **3 years of related engineering experience** and is well suited for an engineer who can independently manage technical assignments while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop mechanical systems and components for heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment.
* Support the design, development, integration, and modification of components for new and existing vehicle platforms.
* Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and technical analysis in accordance with company and industry standards.
* Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and technical feasibility.
* Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
* Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet technical requirements.
* Prepare and review engineering layouts, drawings, specifications, and **Bills of Material (BOMs)**.
* Utilize 3D CAD tools to develop and modify product designs.
* Support product changes through established engineering change and documentation processes.
* Provide engineering integration and execution support for vehicle and component designs.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, or other stakeholders.
* Provide technical assistance for production and business continuity needs.
* Manage individual projects, portions of larger projects, or multiple concurrent engineering assignments.
* Collaborate with engineering disciplines, manufacturing teams, business stakeholders, customers, and external suppliers.
* Maintain project documentation supporting engineering analysis, research, design decisions, and historical records.
* Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, presentations, and other engineering documentation.
* Provide guidance or mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians when working on common projects.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Cooling Systems Focus
Cooling system design experience is **preferred** for this position.
Relevant experience may include:
* Vehicle cooling systems
* Thermal management systems
* Heat exchangers and radiators
* Pumps, fans, hoses, piping, or related components
* Coolant flow and system integration
* Component selection and sizing
* Mechanical system troubleshooting
* Engineering analysis or system performance evaluation
* Automotive, heavy-vehicle, off-highway, or other mobile-equipment applications
Candidates do not necessarily need experience across all of these areas. Engineers with a strong mechanical design background and transferable experience with related vehicle or mobile-equipment systems may also be considered.
Minimum Qualifications
* Accredited Bachelor's degree in **Engineering or a related technical field**.
* **3+ years of related engineering experience**.
* Experience designing, developing, analyzing, or supporting mechanical systems or components.
* Experience using a professional 3D CAD platform.
* Ability to independently execute engineering assignments and solve technical problems.
* Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in **Mechanical Engineering**.
* Cooling system or thermal management design experience.
* Mechanical knowledge of automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, off-highway equipment, mobile equipment, or related systems.
* Experience with **Creo or CATIA**; equivalent high-level 3D CAD experience may also be considered.
* Experience creating or modifying engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and BOMs.
* Experience supporting component selection, system integration, engineering changes, troubleshooting, or production.
Key Competencies
