Position Summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO BAT Teams) effort. This position develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, large data set manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The Software Engineer will work independently or as part of a team to design, code, test, debug, and improve software solutions based on documented requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
* Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
* Debug existing software and correct defects.
* Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
* Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
* Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
* Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
* Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
* Write or review software and system documentation.
* Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow and data usage, and investigating problem areas.
* Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular project.
* Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
* Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
* Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.

Required Qualifications
- ----------------------

* Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
* Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
* Strong Java experience.
* Experience with MapReduce.
* Cloud experience.
* Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
* Experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
* Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
* Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.

Required Education and Experience Equivalency

* High School Diploma/GED with 11 years of experience.
* Associates Degree with 11 years of experience.
* Bachelors' Degree with 7 years of experience.
* Masters' Degree with 7 years of experience.
* PhD with 7 years of experience.
