**About the Role:** As a Software Engineer, Tools and Infrastructure, you will be at the heart of Google's engineering process building software that empowers engineering teams to develop and deliver high-quality products quickly. We focus on solving the hardest, most interesting challenges of developing software at scale without sacrificing stability, quality, velocity, or code health.

We ensure Google's success by partnering with engineering teams and developing scalable tools and infrastructure that help engineers develop, test, debug, and release software quickly. We impact thousands of Googlers and billions of users by increasing the pace of product development and ensuring our products are thoroughly tested. We advocate for code health, testability, maintainability, and best practices for development and testing.

The RCS Video Chat Engineering Infrastructure and Operations team is part of P\&D, focusing on shipping necessary features alongside long-term investments. As a member of the team, you will automate quality tracking, ensure interoperability with partner teams, build daily tooling, and maintain customer relationships.

**Compensation:**  

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147,000 - $210,000 + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

**Responsibilities**

* Write product or system development code.
* Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
* Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
* Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
* Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
* 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
* 2 years of experience building developer tools (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).

**Preferred Qualifications**

* Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
* 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
* Experience developing accessible technologies.
